ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Nicolosi for Senate campaign has submitted new evidence to the State’s Attorney’s office’s investigation of their petitions on the grounds of voter fraud. The evidence, which is attached, shows State Representative Joe Sosnowski’s petition forms which also contain at least 2 of the signatures in question (see exhibit 3).
His opponent, incumbent Dave Syverson has released a statement this week alleging that Nicolosi’s signatures (exhibit 1) were forged and voters were misled into signing petitions they did not support. However, one of these things is not like the other – Sosnowski’s signatures match those on Nicolosi’s petitions, not Syverson’s (see exhibit 2).
After recently learning of these allegations, I had my office contact the board of elections, after learning I was not the target of the investigations, it was brought to our attention that this matter had previously been brought before them and was rejected by them. They will be contacting the media outlets that have reported the story to request a correction.” said Eli Nicolosi.
“By manipulating the State’s Attorney’s office in this manner is a blatant attempt to manipulate the democratic process,” Nicolosi continues. “The people of this district deserve better than that.”
