Eli Nicolosi Music Years

Eli Nicolosi and the Memories
Long before founding Astute Web Group, creating comic books, or working as a professional illustrator, Eli’s music and creative journey began through Eli Nicolosi music.
During the early 2000s, Nicolosi was a songwriter, musician, and member of The Memories, an independent rock band that included Nicolosi as the rhythm guitarist and singer-songwriter, along with Eric D’Asto (Bass), Brian VandenBos (Drums) and Joe DiZillo (Lead guitar). They performed throughout the Chicago and Northern Illinois music scene. Like many independent bands of the era, The Memories relied on grassroots promotion, local venues, and a shared passion for creating original music.
The band included talented musicians who brought together different influences and creative perspectives. What united them was a desire to create something original and meaningful.
For Nicolosi, music became an early creative outlet that helped develop many of the skills he still uses today. Songwriting requires storytelling, structure, collaboration, and emotional communication. Those same principles would later influence his work as an illustrator, designer, entrepreneur, and comic creator.
Music also taught important lessons about perseverance. Independent musicians spend countless hours rehearsing, promoting shows, recording material, and building audiences. Success rarely happens overnight, and the experience helped shape Nicolosi’s long-term approach to creative projects and business ownership.
Many of the themes that appear in his current work can be traced back to those early years. Storytelling, personal growth, relationships, sacrifice, hope, and perseverance remain central themes in both his creative and professional life.
